Backend Developer to Brocc, Stockholm

Brocc – a Swedish-founded niche bank and one of Europe’s largest NPL acquirers – is on an exciting growth journey. They are now looking for an experienced Backend Developer with an interest in banking and finance.  

As a backend developer at Brocc, you’ll have a unique opportunity to help build the technical backbone of the next-generation Nordic savings and credit platform. Your mission will be to create stable, scalable, and secure systems that enable entirely new ways for consumers to save, consolidate loans, and take control of their finances. 

You’ll join at a stage where architecture and infrastructure is still being shaped. You’ll work with modern technologies, develop smart integrations, build robust APIs, and automate complex financial flows that form the foundation for the company’s continued expansion. At Brocc, you won’t just develop backend systems – you’ll help shape the core of a platform that truly changes how people in the Nordics manage their personal finances. 

You will be based in central Stockholm and report to the CTO. 

Responsibilities 

As a Backend Developer, you will play a central role in developing and maintaining the company’s financial systems. You will work on creating and maintaining server-side logic, databases, and integrations that power the company’s applications. This role requires a senior developer with a deep understanding of backend principles and experience working with complex systems. 

Typical tasks include: 

• Develop and maintain server-side logic and APIs. 
• Work with databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval. 
• Integrate applications with third-party services. 
• Participate in the design and architecture of backend systems. 
• Implement solutions that are scalable, secure, and maintainable. 
• Identify and resolve performance issues. 
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability. 
• Collaborate with frontend developers, system architects, and other team members. 
• Participate in meetings and forums to discuss development projects and strategies. 

Is this you?

• a post-secondary education in IT, computer science, or a related field from a vocational school or university. Furthermore 
• several years of experience in backend development in PHP and/or Java. 
• Experience from the finance industry or other regulated industries is a plus 
• A familiarity with agile methods such as Scrum or Kanban. 
• Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken) and it’s a bonus if you can also communicate in Swedish.
