Backend Developer to Brocc, Stockholm

We are now looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join our growing team.

As a Backend Developer at Brocc, you will build and maintain the backend systems that power our Nordic financial platform. You will work with complex business logic, robust integrations, and modern cloud-native solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with frontend, product, data, architecture, and platform teams—and play a key role as we prepare for an upcoming system migration planned for 2027.

You will be based in central Stockholm and report to the CTO.

Responsibilities 

As a Backend Developer, you will play a central role in developing and maintaining the company’s financial systems. You will work on creating and maintaining server-side logic, databases, and integrations that power the company’s applications. This role requires a senior developer with a deep understanding of backend principles and experience working with complex systems. 

Typical tasks include: 

• Develop and maintain server-side logic and APIs.
• Work with databases to ensure reliable and efficient data flows.
• Integrate with third‑party services and financial systems.
• Participate in architectural decisions and backend system design.
• Ensure scalability, security, and maintainability across systems.
• Identify and resolve performance issues.
• Optimize systems for speed, resilience, and future scalability.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams.
• Contribute ideas and participate in technical forums and planning.

Must‑have qualifications:
• Post‑secondary education in IT, computer science, or similar.
• Several years of experience in backend development in PHP and/or Java.
• Broad engineering background, in Java and Python.
• Broad technology interest.
• Experience with containerization and cloud‑native solutions.
• Understanding of CI/CD.
• Excellent English skills.

Meritorious:
• Experience from finance or other regulated environments.
• TDD and modern testing frameworks.
• Swedish language skills.
• Familiarity with Scrum/Kanban.
